The Fulford Arms
Age Restrictions: 16+

Indie rock quintet Youth Sector expertly balance astute political observations with campy indie romps. Inspired by the art school greats DEVO and Talking Heads, their music is a coiled spring of urgency and unpredictable energy that offers a sense of catharsis for the confusion of modern adult life.

Across their critically acclaimed EPs, the Brighton quintet have never revelled in bleakness, managing to twist everyday narratives into music that is quite the opposite being upbeat, full of energy and with irresistible choruses you can’t help but sing along with.

Evidently Youth Sector are no strangers to weaving prescient issues of culture and politics into the warm embrace of strong grooves and sing-along choruses, but debut album ‘Pop Couture’ raises the bar considerably.

“Although the road to ‘Pop Couture’ has been long and arduous, Youth Sector can confidently confirm for any apprehensive listeners that it is certifiably all killer and no filler.”

Debut album ‘Pop Couture’ arrives September 19th via Dance To The Radio.

Championed by the likes of Clash, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit with BBC Radio playlisting alongside multiple Radio 1 and 6 Music specialist plays, their live set is a force to be reckoned with having toured alongside Kaiser Chiefs, Darwin Deez, with SXSW 2023 plus buckets of UK and EU festivals under their belts.

SUPPORT FROM

OLIVER PINDER (FULL BAND)

Yorkshire-born songwriter Oliver Pinder crafts guitar-driven alternative anthems that turn chaos into catharsis. Raised in Queensbury on pub jukeboxes, Seabrook’s crisps, and fishing trips to Scotland with his dad, Oliver found solace in music after his father’s passing at age 12. What began as intimate, indie-folk songs has evolved into raw, anthemic alt music, drawing comparisons to Bleachers, Wunderhorse, and Phoebe Bridgers.

Now based in Wakefield, Oliver has sold out headline shows, played festivals including The Great Escape, and prepares to release his first vinyl EP, too late to tell you — a soundtrack for those learning to scream, heal, and grow.

MESSY EATER

…the new music and illustration project from Pete Bott, whose previous projects have been supported by NME, The Guardian, Notion and BBC Radio 1.

Drawing comparisons with Gorillaz, Beck, The Avalanches, Beastie Boys and The Flaming Lips, Messy Eater combines the flavours of wry lyrical observations on modern life with irresistible hooks and a unique self-produced sound.

Growing up on a diet of mixtape culture and genre-agnostic electicism, Messy Eater lives in a world of “anything goes” melodic songwriting and kaleidoscopic sampledelica.

Now supported by BBC Introducing, Apple Music and Amazing Radio, the Messy Eater taste is for joyous, vibrant and celebratory sounds.
