J.J. Chamberlain & Lunchtime Haircut:
J.J’s songs have been floating around the bars and music venues of York for just over a year since going public, but with his band Lunchtime Haircut, he has forged a live sound that’s both as big as it is personable. A Year With the Ghosts is very much an Alternative Rock album, but you will notice nods to other genres from Shoegaze to Indie Folk, from Grunge to George Harrison. Now fresh from a sell-out show at the Micklegate Social and armed with a debut album, the band are ready to bring their carefully developed set back to the Fulford Arms.
Big Bear:
Fiercely emotional songs, delivered by a voice that could disarm a firing squad, and with the rhythm section equivalent of a jackhammer. Big Bear are back at the Fulford, get ready for raw power at its heightened best!
Eddy’s Mistake:
Probably York’s most authentic emo band, Eddy’s Mistake have a unique gift for crafting grungy but melodic songs via the medium of Katie Lou McCabe’s vitriolic lyrics. Don’t expect this particular brand of revenge to be coded, Eddy’s Mistake go for the gut, and probably also the throat. This band are both nostalgic yet fresh, they’re angry but also sad, they’re apathetic about the fact that they really care. You’ll be glad you didn’t miss this!
Izzy Hartley:
In every music scene there comes a moment when a new artist enters and captures everyone’s attention. This music scene’s disruptor is Izzy Hartley, whose heartfelt and deeply personal lyrics are soared by a unique voice of multiple dimensions and tones. Clever, infectious and personable, her songs will stick in your head for days. With shades of Fleetwood Mac, and a drizzle of Beatlesque nostalgia, you won’t forget this one.
