York DIY music scene presents a night of local live music, run by musicians.
They’re a talented bunch, and this night always delivers..!
Featuring:
The Pennydrops:
What began as one of York’s collaborations between two of the city’s prolific songwriters, Izzy Hartley & J.J. Chamberlain, has now become a fully fledged band as they’re now joined by a raucous rhythm section in Joe Griffiths (bass) and Joshua Pulleyn (drums). The Pennydrops have a genre bending sound that flutters between the folk-rock era of Fleetwood Mac to the glory era of Radiohead, via some US influenced Shoegaze and Melodic Grunge undertones. Debut single Nightblindness got spins on Jorvik Radio and BBC Introducing, as well as a lot of positive press and some solid reviews. The Pennydrops have been busy in the studio working on their debut EP, but tonight sees their first headline show where you can hear the whole EP in full, and more!
Dom Patrick:
It’s hard to spend time watching live music in York without coming across Dom’s warm, rich and captivatingly ashy vocal tones. Known for his solo acoustic act, and for his popular York band, Wildflowers. Dom’s music crosses boundaries and tonight we get to witness his first show with a full band for a while, and his Autonomy debut.
2026 marks the start of an exciting year, with new music expected in the next few months, an album and tour to come. Expect a full band sound, with inspiration from the likes of Zach Bryan, Sam Fender and Ben Howard.
Substate:
Substate are back at the Fulford, making tonight’s show an entirely local line up! If you’ve never come across Substate before, think Britpop fused with first wave Post-Grunge, but the more obscure side of Britpop like Mansun or early Manic Street Preachers. There’s nothing Disco 2000 about this particular brand of Alternative Rock, that’s for sure. Substate’s live shows are packed full of energy and angst, we’re very much looking forward to having them at Autonomy for the first time!
